Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ATC has had to limit the number of referrals we can see. This program is currently on hold until 2022.
Cognitive Communication Program
The Cognitive Communication Program is designed to help individuals with Parkinson’s Disease who experience difficulties expressing their thoughts clearly, finding the words they want to say, and remembering new information.
The program uses a specialized protocol developed at ATC by in-house Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Occupational Therapists, implementing both active treatment exercises and compensatory strategies. Clients are then given the opportunity to practice these strategies for improved comprehension, recollection, and communication to promote their communicative independence.
Clients will also learn about environmental or lifestyle factors that may impact their memory and communication.
A therapist’s (OT or SLP) referral is preferred, however clients may sign up independently by filling out our referral form. Clients are accepted for an initial assessment on a case-by-case basis at any point in the continuum of care.
This is a fee-for-service program.
